Claudia Cardinale, international renowned actress and icon of beauty and style, is going to be the protagonist of the 4th edition of Filming Italy - Los Angeles that will take place at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura Los Angeles and Harmony Gold Theater from January 29th to the 31st 2019, with the partecipation of italian and international cinema celebrities.

At the same time after one year from the placing of the star on the Walk of Fame, Gina Lollobrigida comes back to Los Angeles as honorary president of Filming Italy Los Angeles, directed by Tiziana Rocca, and to start filming “The Last Diva”, a documentary that will retrace her extraordinary career.

Created and arranged by Agnus Dei Tiziana Rocca and Istituto Italiano di Cultura Los Angeles headed by Valeria Rumori, Filming Italy - Los Angeles promotes Italy as cinematographic set and bridge between the italian and the american culture. The Festival, with the artistic direction of Tiziana Rocca, is presented under approval of the Consulate General of Italy of Los Angeles and it will claim the presence of the Consul General Silvia Chiave. From this year Lazio Innova, in house society of Regione Lazio is alongside Filming Italy with Direzione Cinema MiBAC, ANICA and ICE Los Angeles.

Through the promotion of italian cinematographic productions, Filming Italy - Los Angeles brings some aspects of the italian cinematographic industry to the attention of the hollywood industry and of the american audience. An example is the choice of peculiar set locations -that is giving life to a new kind of tourism- or the renowed professionalism of the italian cinema.

 “We are very satisfied to announce a 4th edition in the spirit of the great cinema and of the italian talents, admired all over the world, and the honor to have as main guest such a diva as Claudia Cardinale.- highlights Tiziana Rocca, artistic director.- Filming Italy - Los Angeles is born to bring the attention to the hollywood industry, the great cinematographic and cultural heritage of our country, using the characters and the movies that made it iconic, but at the same time through the new talents. Our mission is to promote and encourage the internationalisation of our territories as well and as important occasion of contact through different cultures and media productions. Indeed we arranged also Filming Italy Sardegna Festival last summer drawing the attention of press and public and that will see a second edition from June 13th to 16th 2019.

Filming Italy is currently one of the most expected events in Los Angeles and South California, and the international guests involved can prove that our cinema is a benchmark through the world.”

Many movies scheduled and many special guests like Raoul Bova who’s going to present exclusively the first scenes of “La Regina del Sud” produced by Telemondo Globas Studio and Netflix and the sixth episode of the acclaimed series “Medici – Lorenzo il Magnifico” aired on Rai1; Giulio Base will present “Il Banchiere anarchico” in a special official screening by HFPA;  Moran Atias israeli actress and model; the canadian actor Nolan Funk; Randy Haberkamp from Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Los Angeles; Lola TillyaevaSalavatore Esposito actor of the italian Tv series Gomorra; Steven Gaydos VP and Executive Editor of Variety; Patrizia Fersurella producer of “Anche senza di Te” and of Sunfilm Group who will receive the Filming Italy Producer Award; Angela Prudenzi producer and screenwriter of “Respiri” and member of the Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica Venezia selections committee; Giorgio Viaro, director of Best Movie.





The grant includes a non-refundable contribution, proportionate to the possible expences of the italian co-production rate.

News about this edition will be the invitation to tender “Lazio Cinema International” by Cristina Priarone general director and investor who helped Regione Lazio to achieve important international productions. The invitation, managed by Lazio Innova is financed by european funds and in three years has already co-financed the production of more than 60 films and acclaimed series, bringing to the amazing roman locations great directors, famous actors and prestigious international productions promoting an international distribuiton of the films.

The new tender offers to the co-productions 2 windows of application, both with a plafond of 5 million euro each; the first opened on november 2019 will be closed on february 14th 2019; the second window will open on may 30th 2019 and close on july 31st.

ANICA supports Filming Italy from the first edition thanks to the President Rutelli “It’s always a big satisfaction when italian cinema, with its protagonists reaches overseas audience. In this case, seeing them get to Los Angeles, where we have several actions scheduled for this year- underlines Roberto Stabile International Relations In Charge and coordinator of the Audio Visual Desk at ICE- Agency- confirms once again how the story of our cinema is still important and has a international resonance and it contributes to connect different cultures ad arts, with the made in Italy promotion.”


Italy for Movies the national portal for locations promotion wanted by MiBac and managed activetly by Istituto Luce – Cinecitta’ in collaboration with Italian Film Commission, is going to join Filming Italy Los Angeles, with the strategic purpose to catch the flow of investments from abroad and to boost the attraction and visibilty of our territories through the cinematographic and audio visual production.

 The opening day of the 4th edition of Filming Italy presents three screening, all of them american previews, from 4pm at Istituto Italiano di Cultura:

Following Anche Senza di Te by Francesco Bonelli, at the presence of the producer Patrizia Fersurella from Sunfilm Group, who will receive the Filming Italy Producer Award during the closing night of the Festival for her constant commitment in the production and co-production of international movies in our country.

At 7pm the inaugural nigh with Gina Lollobrigida, Honorary President of Filming Italy Los Angeles with the creators and planners of the Festival, Tiziana Rocca e Valeria Rumori.

We will assign the Filming Italy Best Tv Series Award to Moran Atias awarded by Giorgio Viaro, Best Movie director and the Filming Italy Young Spotlight Award to Nolan Funk.

Opening screening will be the thrillerby  Alfredo Fiorillo “Respiri”, presented by Angela Prudenzi,  producer e screenwriter of the film.

To Claudia Cardinale will be dedicated the day of  January 30th with the screening of The Pink Panther by Blake Edwards (1964) in which, with Peter Sellers and David Niven, she is the young princess Dala stole from her huge diamond.

Tribute to Raoul Bova, with the screening of the sixth episode of the acclaimed series I Medici – Lorenzo il Magnifico 2, streamed on Rai1 in which Bova is Papa Sisto IV.

During the night Claudia Cardinale will be awarded with The Harmonist 2nd Annual Excellence Award assigned by Lola Tillyaeva: “the harmonist is a new frontier for Luxury Retail and for sure one fancy new world to visit fro the most passionate perfume lovers” declares Peter Gladel CEO of Beauty and Luxury. “The Harmonist is honored to join Filming Italy. We are excited to celebrate the beauty of italian cinema. I will be then assigned the Filming Italy Best Career Award and the IIC Los Angeles Creativity Award of Istituto Italiano di Cultura Los Angeles, as recognition for the italian excellence and creativity appreciated all over the world. The award is an original handmade price made purposely for the Institute by the renowned artist and stylist Emilio Cavallini, inspired by the roof of the roman Pantheon.

The night will be introduced by Tiziana Rocca, Valeria Rumori and the General Consul of Italy in Los Angeles Silvia Chiave. It will follow a presentation by Randy Haberkamp of the Academy of motion picture Arts and Sciences of Los Angeles. Steven Gaydos, VP and Executiv Editor of Variety will collect the Filming Italy Award assigned during the first Edition of Filming Italy Sardegna Festival last June at Forte Village.

The actor Salvatore Esposito, one of the protagonist of the acclaimed tv series Gomorra, will receive the IIC Los Angeles Creativity Award.

Then it will be presented the invitation to tender to “Lazio Cinema International” through which the Regione Lazio has produced and co-produced important national and international cinematographic achievements.

At the end of the awards ceremony it will be screened as american preview, the successful italian film  La befana vien di notte by Michele Soavi with Paola Cortellesi.



Harmony Gold Theater (18.00-21.00)

The closing ceremony of the Filming Italy – Los Angeles 4th edition will take place at Harmony Gold Theatre with assignment of Filming Italy Award to Raoul Bova and a conclusive speech by Gina Lollobrigida, Honorary President of the event, and other interventions by Tiziana Rocca, Valeria Rumori and by the Consul General for Italy in Los Angeles Silvia Chiave.

After the success of the last edition of the Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica of Venezia and in the italian cinema, it will be presented in Los Angeles with an official screening by HFPA, Il banchiere anarchico di Giulio Base concluding for the 2019 Filming Italy edition.

Il banchiere anarchico is based on the novel “Racconto di Raziocinio” by Fernando Pessoa and puts on a platonic dialogue between a rich banker (Giulio Base) and an old friend (Paolo Fosso).

The film is produced by Agnus Dei Production in collaboration with Rai Cinema and the co-production of Solaria Film and AlberTeam Group and it has been distribuited in italian cinemas by Sunfilm Group.

Gina Lollobrigida and Monica Bellucci,  the divas of yesterday and today, at the Festival Filming on Italy (January 31 – February 2, 2018) with many other international guests including  Rosario Dawson and Abrina Erwiah, Paz Vega, Vincent Spano, Danny Houston. The Festival also features the US premiere of On the Milky Road by Emir Kusturica and I Quit When I Want – Part 3 by Sydney Sibilia.

Filming on Italy promotes Italy as a filming location and a bridge between Italian and American culture. It was created through an agreement between Agnus Dei of Tiziana Rocca, the Italian Cultural Institute Los Aneles and its Director Valeria Rumori and the Consul General of Italy in Los Angeles Antonio Verde and the festival is celebrated under his auspices. Filming on Italy highlights to the public and industry insiders in Hollywood Italian films and celebrities. Through Italian cinema’s various “satellite” film sectors are presented such as Italian film locations (tourism), cinema experts (operators) and the excellence of “Made in Italy”.

The General Director of the Festival is Tiziana Rocca and the Artistic Director is Claudio Masenza.

This year Filming on Italy presents two icons of Italian and international fame, Monica Bellucci, in the film On the Milky Road by Emir Kusturica, which will have its US premiere at the Harmony Gold Theatre on Sunset Boulevard, and Gina Lollobrigida, who will receive her Star on the Walk of Fame, thanks to the support of Tiziana Rocca and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and the Cinema Direction of MiBACT.

Bellucci will receive the Filming on Italy Best Career Award and Lollobrigida the Filming on Italy Life and Achievement Award, which will be presented by Danny Houston the son of John Houston who directed her US film debut, Beat the Devil.

Both actresses will receive the IIC Los Angeles Creativity Award, recognizing international Italian excellence.  The award was designed specifically for the Institute by Emilio Cavallini, artist and designer of international fame. The award design was inspired by the ceiling of the Pantheon in Rome. Both cinema icons will receive a proclamation from the City of Los Angeles from Councilman Joe Buscaino.



Social issues are a very important theme for Tiziana Rocca and she has always championed them at her events. For this reason Filming on Italy is presenting Studio 189, a socially conscious business created in 2011 by Rosario Dawson with the fashion expert Abrima Erwiah. The project utilizes fashion as an agent for social change through the creating work opportunities for women. Studio 189 e-commerce and collection of handmade clothing Fashion Rising Collection curated by Dawson and launched in 2013 in support of One Billion Rising, the largest mass action to end violence against women. Inspired by her ideals, the Fashion Rising Collection represents a unique collaboration between artists, designers and craftspeople to end violence against women and support sustainable fashion.

Monica Bellucci will open the Festival Filming on Italy on January 31 with a screening at the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles of “Malèna” by Giuseppe Tornatore, the film that launched her as in international star. After the U.S. premiere at the Harmony Theatre on Sunset Boulevard of “On the Milky Road” by Emir Kusturica, in which Bellucci acts in Serbian will follow. The recounts a story of passion and forbidden love during wartime that launches the two protagonists in a series of fantastic and dangerous adventures. Kusturica’s new film is a modern fable inspired by aspects of the director’s life.

International star, style and beauty icon, Monica Bellucci has acted in over 66 films as well as the most recent season of the television series Mozart in the Jungle. Her 67th film, Nekromance, by the Australian Director Kiah Roache-Turner and written with his brother Tristan, is in post-production.

David Lynch honored her with a cameo in Twin Peaks with a role in which she played herself in one of his dreams.

She was won a multitude of awards and recently was conferred the prestigious French Legion of Honor, the “Donostia” lifetime achievement award at the San Sebastian Film Festival and the Nastro Argento Europeo (European Silver Ribbon).

Thanks to Obicà  and their new space on Sunset Plaza in West Hollywood, an Italian excellence in Los Angeles.

During the ceremony, awards will also be presented to Paz Vega (Filming on Italy Rising Award) and Vincent Spano (Spotlight Filming on Italy Award).


She has acted in over 60 films with the most important Italian and international directors, a life full of art including cinema, photography and sculpture, Gina Lollobrigida returns to the U.S. for the Festival Filming on Italy and have her star placed on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood. The star was announced last year on July 4, on her birthday. Tiziana Rocca presented the request for the star and it was approved by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

Filming On Italy will dedicated an entire day to Lollobrigida at the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles with a screening of her films “Death Laid an Egg“ by Giulio Questi (1969) and “Woman of Straw” by Basil Dearden (1964) she will also have a Q & A with the moderator Claudio Masenza.

“This is a long-overdue recognition for Gina Lollobrigida, a multi-faceted artist” - Consul General Antonio Verde pointed out - “who shaped the filmic imagery of many generations of movie lovers!”

I QUIT WHEN I WANT-PART 3 – February 2

Produced by Matteo Rovere and Domenico Procacci, and distributed by 01 Distribuzione, I Quit When I Want – Part 3 directed by Sydney Sibilia is the final chapter of the I Quit When I Want saga, which started in 2014. The protagonists are academic researchers who decide to dedicate themselves to a life of crime after they are abandoned by the University system, which leads to a series of adventures. The third film of the series finds the protagonists in jail with a new case to salve and plan to escape from prison.

Filming in Italy, an event promoting Italy as a cinematic set, will begin on February 3 in Los Angeles, thanks to the collaboration between Angus Dei Production by Tiziana Rocca, the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles and its Director Valeria Rumori and the Consulate General of Italy in Los Angeles.

The first edition of the project will be held on February 3 and 7, 2017 at the Italian Cultural Institute. Not only will the event promote Italy as an ideal filming location but the new Italian Cinema Law  for foreign producers will also be presented by ANICA (Associazione Nazionale Industrie Cinematografiche Audiovisive Multimediali) and the audio-visual department of the Italian Trade Agency in Los Angeles (ICE di Los Angeles).

The Consul General of Italy Antonio Verde will open the event, which has also received the Consulate’s patronage.

The special guests in attendance will include representative of the City of Los Angeles and the director Oliver Stone, a strong proponent of Italy, which has been an inspiration for his films. In a presentation curated by Variety Stone will introduce the documentary he produced Ukraine on Fire (2016). Cecilia and Anthony Peck will also be in attendance celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Gregory Peck , the unforgettable star of Roman Holiday, a cult movie emblematic of “Filming in Italy”. The actor, director and producer Riccardo Scamarcio will present the film Pericle il nero (Pericle, 2016, 104’) in which he stars. The film is directed by Stefano Mordini and is a US premiere. The emerging director Irene Dionisio’s documentary Sponde (Shores, 2015, 60’) will also be screened.  

In addition, the documentary, 60 IERI OGGI DOMANI (60 Yesterday Today Tomorrow, 2016, 59’) by Gioriogio Treves, produced by Jean Vigo and distributed by Istituto Luce Cinecitta’ will be presented. The film is an homage to the most important Italian cinema award, il Premio David di Donatello, as a reflection of Italian society and history of Italian cinema over the past sixty years through the memories and testimonies of Gian Luigi Rondi and other protagonists of the big screen.

The Italian Cultural Institute will inaugurate the exhibit “Grand Tour in Contemporary Italy” curated by Centro Cinema Citta’ di Cesena, including a selection of photographs illustrating the stunning regional Italian cinema sets from the 1940 until today. The exhibit will be open to the public from February 8 through May 26, 2017.

Baume & Mercier, the main partner for the initiative, will confer Special Awards to the select talent in attendance.

On the occasion of the first edition of the festival the Italian Cultural Institute will confer the new IIC Los Angeles Creativity Award to Riccardo Scamarcio, who will appear in the upcoming US action film John Wick: Chapter 2, and Cecilia and Anthony in memory of their father, Gregory Peck, protagonist in the iconic film Roman Holiday. The IIC Los Angeles Creativity Award, recognizes Italian excellence in the world. It consists of an original work created by Emilio Cavallini, noted international artist and designer who was inspired by the Roman Pantheon’s ceiling. The award’s design was specifically created for the Institute in celebration of the First Italian Design Day in the World (March 2, 2017).
